    January 29, 2009 – Game Recap

    Rink Dawgs10 Green Hawks -2

Our Highest scoring output of the season, it seemed like we capitalized on all our scoring chances.  On top of the 27 shots we had, Antonio hit about 4 posts himself.  It was a balanced offensive effort, with goals by 9 different players.  For the first time in a while we had 3 sets of wingers & 4 defensemen,  it really makes a difference in our play when we can keep constant pressure our opponent.

With only 2 regular season games left, both next week (Tues Feb 3rd-9:40 and Thurs 5th-8:45), we need to string together  good efforts going into the playoffs.  We will be playing both the Shockers & Phantoms 2 times a piece, to determine the playoff champs.  Needless to say we have struggled somewhat against both teams, so we need to bring our A game.

    Game Stats:

Shots: Rink Dawgs 27 – Green Hawks 11
    Powerplay: none
    Penaltykill: none

    Player(s) of the game:
    Joe Lucas  1G 4A
Jamie Farrow & Antonio Geraci each with 1G 3A
Donny Lagos,  Sebastian Geraci & Andrew Lazaridis each with 1G 2A

It was a well balanced attack with 8 players scoring once and Mark Krupa netting a pair of goals.

    January 22, 2009 – Game Recap

    Shockers – 6  Rink Dawgs – 0

When the Shockers scored 8 seconds into the game I thought it was a fluke.  They outplayed us in both ends, and we were flat footed.  Let’s not fool ourselves, our defensive zone coverage was weak and we couldn’t capitalize on the opportunities we had.  The shots on goal may have been in our favor, but it sure didn’t seem that way.

Let’s just put that one behind us and come out strong next game.

    Game Stats:

    Shots: Rink Dawgs 22 – Shockers 11
    Powerplay: none
    Penaltykill: 1 for 2

    Player(s) of the game:

Needless to say, nobody performed well enough to deserve this honor.

    January 13, 2009 – Game Recap

    Rink Dawgs – 5  T.O Phantoms – 5

Most competitive and entertaining game of the season so far.  As I thought the Phantoms brought out their ringers in guys like Gordie Scott, Rick Lee, Jerry Cowan, Chris Monaghan to name a few.  Dispite the addition of the such high profile players, the Phantoms had their hands full with the Dawgs.

It was a pretty even match up, with the momentum swinging back and forth all game long.  We played really strong in the first half, taking  a lead into the intermission.  We were outplayed in the second half thanks to back to back penalties called on us.  Needless to say with all that firepower, the Phantoms scored on both powerplay opportunities to tie the game.  Jamie had a chance to win the game with :01 left to play, but was robbed by the goaltender.  All in all it was good game to play in.

    Game Stats:

    Shots: T.O Phantoms 21 – Rink Dawgs 20
    Powerplay: none
    Penaltykill: 0 for 2

    Player(s) of the game:
    Sted Stegio 1G 2A
    Jamie Farrow 1G 2A
    Andrew Lazaridis 1G 1A

Notable mention goes to David Silva & Ted Kolkas each with a goal.

    January 08, 2009 – Game Recap

    Rink Dawgs – 6  T.O Phantoms – 1

Absolutely our most convincing victory in a while, from the goaltending to our defensive play to the relentless offensive attack.  We proved to the Phantoms that we are not a team to be taken lightly, surely they will be bringing their ringers out next game.

    Shots: Rink Dawgs 37 – T.O Phantoms 14
    Powerplay: 1 for 6
    Penaltykill: 4 for 5

    Player(s) of the game:
    Joe Lucas 1G 3A
    Antonio Geraci 2G

Notable mention to David Silva & Carm Diluciano each with 2 points, Andrew Lazaridis with his second GWG of the season and Nick Turcaloro stop 13 of 14 shots.

    December 23, 2008 – Game Recap

    Shockers – 6  Rink Dawgs – 2

One of the worst games we have played in a long long time, we were completely outplayed for a full 30 minutes.  It was a pretty lopsided affair, we were outshot 30-12!  I guess if we were going to a have a stinker, early in the season was where to have it.

The league decided to split the division into two, an (A) Division with the stronger teams Phantoms, Shockers and Rink Dawgs and a (B) division containing the Young Gunz, Green Hawks and Red Army.  Considering we lost our first games against the Phantoms and Shockers, we have some ground to make up.

    Game Stats:

    Shots: Shockers – 30  Rink Dawgs – 12
    Powerplay: none
    Penaltykill: none

    Player(s) of the game:
Needless to say we had no players of the game, but notable mention goes to Carm DiLuciano & Mike Zuccaro with a goal each and Bruce Tiam-Fook & Ted Kolkas each adding an assist.

    December 18, 2009 – Game Recap

    Rink Dawgs – 6  Green Hawks – 5

Despite the victory we played a terrible game.  From our poor defensive zone coverage to weak goaltending to being outshot , we probably did not deserve to win the game.  We twice had 2 goal leads and we nearly allowed the tying goal in the dying seconds.  Either way we’ll take the win, in a short 10 game season every win is crucial.

    Game Stats:

Shots: Green Hawks 17 – Rink Dawgs 16
    Powerplay: none
    Penalty Killing: 2 for 2

    Player(s) of the game:
    Antonio Geraci 1G 3A
    Sted Stegio 1G 2A
    Andrew Lazaridis 2G (including GWG)

Notable mention to Mark Krupa who added 2 assists and Peter Lorefice scored his first goal of the season.

    December 11, 2008 – Game Recap

    Rink Dawgs – 6  Red Army – 1

Much better effort for the second game of the season, it was good to see some of the guys getting their legs back.  We took control early in the first and carried our strong play into the second half, resulting in us scoring 6 times on 21 shots and only allowing a total of 10 shots against.  A very strong effort and well deserved win, evening out our record on the year to 1-1.

    Game Stats:

Shots: Rink Dawgs 21 – Red Army 10
    Powerplay: none
    Penalty Kill: 1 for 1

    Player(s) of the game:
    Mark Krupa – 2G 1 A
    Carm DiLuciano – 1G 2 A
Tony Rowe, Sebastian Geraci, Jamie Farrow, Mike Zuccaro and Sted Stegio each with 2 points.

Notable mention to Pat Lucas, who was not too busy but stopped 9 of 10 shots faced.

    December 04, 2008 – Game Recap

    T.O Phantoms – 6 Rink Dawgs – 3

Not the way we wanted to start the season but considering we only had a few subs and most of us hadn’t played in over 3 months, I was happy with the effort.  We controlled the better part of the first half, taking an ealry 3-0 lead with goals by Carm, Mike Zuccaro and his son Frank.  The Phantoms chipped away at the lead, tying the game midway through the second half.  Our powerplay broke down allowing 2 short-handed goals, ultimately leaving us too big a hill to climb.  They added an empty net goal, making the final score 6-3.

    Game Stats:

    Shots: Rink Dawgs 18 – T.O Phantoms 16
    Powerplay: 1 for 2
    Penalty Kill: 4 for 5

    Player(s) of the game:
Carm DiLuciano, Mike & Frank Zuccaro each with a goal.
